volunteering when available
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Mrs. Block's second and third
grade class. Homework Help is an after school program for immigrant
and refugee children in the Mankato area. The program runs for two
hours after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I mainly worked with
two or three students on their math homework. We also spent time in
a computer lab playing math games, playing games in the gym, and
reading stories to the children. Although at the beginning of the
school year we dealt with many behavioral problems, it was a
wonderful experience to work with ELL students and watch their
growth throughout the school year.

Fall 2006
Cooperating Teacher: Jerry Soost, Algebra
Math Class
This was my first experience with a charter school. I
learned about project-based learning and how to support students
in this learning environment. I was able to connect with
some students in the math classroom and assist them with
homework questions. I also spent a great deal of time observing
different behaviors in the classroom and how they affect other
students.
